Joseph D. Chabot, DO, FACOS

Board-Certified Neurosurgeon

Dr. Joseph Chabot is a board-certified, fellowship-trained neurosurgeon who serves as a Neurosurgeon with Spine Capital Wisconsin. He specializes in minimally invasive neurosurgery and the treatment of complex disorders of the brain and spine. His clinical interests include cervical and lumbar degenerative disease, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, spinal fusion, motion-preserving artificial disc replacement, advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques, and brain tumor resection.

Dr. Chabot takes a patient-centered approach to neurosurgical care, with a strong emphasis on education and shared decision-making. He believes patients should understand their diagnosis as well as the benefits and limitations of both surgical and nonsurgical treatment options. When surgery is appropriate, his philosophy is to use the least invasive approach capable of safely and effectively addressing the underlying condition.

Dr. Chabot completed his undergraduate education at Xavier University in Cincinnati before earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He subsequently completed his neurosurgical residency at North Shore–Long Island Jewish Hospital in New York and advanced fellowship training in endoscopic and open skull-base surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).
Throughout his career, Dr. Chabot has incorporated advanced technology into his surgical practice. He has extensive experience with minimally invasive techniques, spinal navigation and robotic-assisted spine surgery and was among the early Wisconsin surgeons to perform more than 100 robotic spinal fusion procedures. He also has particular expertise in cervical disc replacement, providing motion-preserving alternatives to fusion for appropriately selected patients.

In addition to his spine practice, Dr. Chabot’s fellowship training provides expertise in the treatment of complex cranial and skull-base disorders. His academic work includes peer-reviewed research involving skull-base tumors and advanced endoscopic and microsurgical approaches.

At Spine Capital Wisconsin, Dr. Chabot brings extensive neurosurgical experience and a commitment to combining advanced technology, minimally invasive techniques, and individualized treatment to help patients recover function and return to the activities that matter most to them.
